Homemade Oreos

I was recently on a wonderful baking blog called My baking addiction and found a recipe for homemade oreos. Jamie has the beautiful photos of all her baked creations and when i saw photos of her oreos, i just couldn't resist. She says she got the recipe from smittenkitchen.com but altered it a bit. You go to my baking addiction and get the recipe here. I have included a few steps and photos of my final product. i hope you are inspired with the ideas for christmas, baby, birthday gifts. These were sooo... easy and way too delicious!

The kids LOOOOVED them and couldn't stop eating them. I was happy just eating the chocolate cookie without icing!

Here are some of the steps I used.

1. I highly recommend using the miniature ice cream scoop or a melon baller. This way you get the perfect size. I think mine came from Publix supermarket.

2. Scoop out dough and roll into balls.

3. I used the bottom of a glass that I put a little water on the bottom to help it not stick. Note: It still stuck to the glass but I carefully removed it and made sure it was a uniform circle.

4. This is how they should look after pressing them. If they are not perfectly round, you will definitely be able to tell with the final product.

5. This is what they look like after baking.

6.Ice the center of the cookie and press other side of cookie on and squish til icing comes to the outsides.

7. Crush peppermints or you can use sprinkles or any other topping to cover the outsides.

8. This is how your final product should look.

Here are a few ideas for gifts:

This would make a great teacher gift!

Here's an idea for a favor for a baby shower:

How about a Thanksgiving favor for your guest!

Maybe a birthday gift for a friend:

Packaging, paper, ribbon and stamps all are from Stampin'Up!

I promise no matter if you want to share or not, you will not be disappointed!
