Inspiration

I wanted to share with you some cookies I made this week. My son has been asking me to make cookies with icing on them, so I decided to make some Halloween themed ones that I knew he would love.

I find so much inspiration in almost everything around me. So since I have the house decorated with Spiders, webs, and anything orange and black, I figured I would use these things to help me come up with a design. As you can see below, I used a pitcher I bought from Home Goods as my inspiration.

First i made the cookies using the same recipe found here except this time I piped the orange icing using the squeeze bottle and then flooded the center of the cookie. I let it dry and then went over the outside edge of the ice cream cones with a thicker royal icing to give them more dimension. Instead of using black royal icing for the cone, I used black fondant and made lines to resemble an actual waffle cone.

For the Cookies above I allowed them to dry and then hand painted them using black gel food color and clear butter extract. I painted the BOO! by following the design of the Boo sign I have on the mantel.

You never know what you will find that will inspire you! Just let your imagination run wild and see what amazing things can happen.

LOVE these cookies. And I LOVE that you hand-painted them! I'm sharing this and YOU on my facebook fan page!!
You are so talented. And congratulations on having your goodies published. How fun and exciting!!

You asked about the camera I use - I use a Nkon D70 - I've had it for many years now. LOVE it.
Would always love to upgrade to the newest version though...*wink*

You still blow my mind. Just as I think you've designed the best yet, you come up with something just as beautiful and creative. I am proud to call you my baby girl. Love, Mom
