Every Little Girls Dream!

All I can say is WOW! I can hardly find the words to describe what an amazing birthday tea party this was! I am truly in awe of what Angie, Patricia, and Lynn did for this lucky little girl Anna who turned five this weekend. I was wishing I was five again just so I could (are you ready for this?):

Play dress up with my own vintage dress, handmade hat and mink stole with shoes to match.

Get my hair and makeup and nails done (by a real hair dresser no less).

Have tea (I mean apple juice) and one of my pretty cupcakes.

Make a beautiful bracelet with its own little bag to keep it safe in.

Have my own handmade hat box filled with wonderful goodies (including a cupcake bath fizzy), and a take home  bag filled with lots of yummy candy .

What a lucky little girl or should I say what lucky little girls. There were 6 Little girls total at the Tea party and some really lucky Moms and friends who got to attend (including me). The food was scrumptious. One of my favorite foods served was a delicious grape salad (I will get the exact recipe from Angie and post it as soon as I can). It was TO DIE FOR! Anywhoo, Angie's dining room is fabulous (yes, this is actually where she gets to eat every night. Lucky girl!) It looks like a picture right out of a magazine (you should see the rest of her house)! Okay, enough about Angie!(LOL, shes the best!) Let's talk cake! Angie had a tea pot that had a tea set on top of it, so I decided to try and make it look somewhat similar to it (see picture below). It wasn't exact but I was still happy with it. The cupcakes had edible roses, hats, gloves, pearls, and hand painted cameos on top. Everything went perfectly together. I included all the pictures below of the party and then some of the cake and cupcakes of course. Enjoy and maybe you'll get a few ideas for your next tea. Thanks Angie for letting me be a part of such an amazing Party!

I carved the cake from three stacked and iced 8" cakes. I covered it in fondant and then covered the top with a square piece of fondant for the table cloth. I painted the gold trim with edible luster dust mixed with butter extract. The top of the cake I did days before. I hand molded all the little tea pots, saucers and cups and then added tea, milk, sugar (piping gel mixed with food color) inside and a small dessert for the plate. The platter had little fondant sandwiches i also handmade. This was the frist time I had ever painted anything, so I was really nervous on how the roses on the teapots would all turn out. Overall, I though I did a pretty good job (you never know til you try).

I purchased this book JUST for the tea pot cake you designed. How beautiful.
I see you used I believe plain round pans, and have seen where others whose are not as beautiful who used ball cake pans. What do you suggest? Just being able to find your site and the ideas was worth the cost of the book.
BEAUTIFUL WORk!
I don't know how you could get so inspired for a cake for a five year old who will only remember the pictures, but I am sure the attending adults brought alot of business your direction as well as the inspiration of making such a lovely item.
One of your cakes you referred to a different fondant rose that was easier and more realistic, but I only see directions for one type of rose.
You are definitly a natural born artist.
Which would you recommend the ball cake pan or the the round pans?
Extremly jealous and impressed.
